It was basically impossible for you to get your hands on the infamous Kylie Cosmetics Birthday bundle set because it sold out in about 5 minutes. Thankfully, I controlled myself and seem to only get one item from that craziness. I wanted to share my thoughts on the LIMITED BIRTHDAY EDITION lip gloss called Poppin’. If you were interested in this gloss don’t worry! I discovered two good dupes and break down the differences with each one.
I have a few Kylie Cosmetic glosses and the reason why I like them is that they are not too sticky when you put them on. Honestly, I think the packaging is what got me. Instead of having her regular black outline on the tube, it had a gold outline instead which looked amazing against the gloss. This time around I did not have a problem with the applicator wand like in the past. (Customer service actually sent me a brand new gloss because of the wand problem!) Poppin’ gloss comfortably glides on my lips with ease. It is a sheer gloss with a gold metallic finish that is not thick. I discovered I actually like putting this gloss over Kylie’s “exposed” liquid lip. If you have exposed definitely try this beautiful combo!
Here are some comparison swatches:
The two dupes I found in my collection were Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss in ‘Sugar Cane’ and Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in ‘Gilded’ All very different consistencies, very comfortable on the lips but ABH Gilded is definitely thicker consistency wise which also lasted the longest on me throughout the day. Sugar Cane would be the darkest of the three. All have different lip applicators. As for the price points, ABH and Kylie Cosmetics are both $16 as for Smashbox it is $21. All 3 colors share the similar antique gold with metallic finish. Gilded and Poppin’ both have a similar vanilla/cake scent while Sugar Cane has no scent to me. Even though it doesn’t look like it from the swatches, the sheerest I would say is Poppin’. Depending on if you like scented glosses, going with either Smashbox or ABH is totally a preference. I will mostly use Poppin’ as a topper. I feel like this product really shines with a good nude lip stick or lip liner.
