Its safe to say Hawaii is basically my second home.. if you truly know me you already know this.. specifically Oahu. I try to go at least once or twice a year. One of my best friends has lived out there for a few years now so that is another reason for my frequent visits. It’s hard to sum up everything I did but I’ll give you a pretty good summary of my whole trip.
Let me start off by saying me and my other best friend usually don’t go based off a strict schedule when we get to Hawaii. We basically have a list of places we want to eat and activities we plan to do and just choose the day of.
Even though I would have loved to stay at an Airbnb this time around we stayed in a pretty amazing hotel on the Waikiki Strip conveniently located steps from the beach. With that being said, a morning beach visit quickly became part of our routine.
Breakfast/Brunch is definitely my favorite meal of the day. So majority of the places I wanted to try were breakfasts spots. My friend loves Korean BBQ so we found a lot of good places for that too.
Here’s a few of my tops picks with some recommendations:
Cinnamon’s Resturant >>> Boot’s & Kimo’s (Guava Chiffon Pancakes)
Yogur Story (Ube/Taro Pancakes TRUUST ME.)
Leonard’s Bakery (Fresh Malsadas)
Liliha Bakery (Coco puffs is a must.. similar to a cream puff)
Tropical Tribe (Acai Bowls)
Helena’s Hawaiian Food (Korean Short Ribs & Kalua Pig)
Side Street Inn (Fried Rice & Spicy Chicken)
Ono Seafood (Spicy Ahi Poke Bowl)
I’m a sucker for a good view so if it involved hiking a few miles to get there or just sitting and waiting for the sun to set I was all about it. The hike we did this time was super muddy just because it had rained a few hours prior. (TIP: wear good shoes and not non supportive Nike’s like i did!) The next time I visit I plan to go on more hikes for sure.
Something that I thought I would never do in my whole entire life was go zipling. I am INCREDIBLY afraid of heights so when my friends wanted to go ziplining I was a bit hesitant. But surprisingly it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be! It did rain but I feel it was a good touch for the whole experience.. We went to Kualoa Ranch in Kaneohe and I highly recommend it!
We ended our trip in the beautiful Ko Olina. I wish we stayed there a few more days. This was definitely the perfect way to conclude our trip. The hotel we stayed at had a private beach and the atmosphere was a good break from from the busyness of Waikiki.
This whole trip was a much needed relax and reset time for me. Sometimes you need to step back and appreciate everything in your life and just live in the moment.. and that’s exactly what I did 🙂
I can go on and on about Hawaii but I’ll stop here for now. From amazing food spots, the best sunsets, fun hikes and of course that Aloha spirit Hawaii will quickly steal your heart just as it always does with me.
